Suicide Prevention

 A half day training (3-4 hours) for Every One, ages 15 and up 

Jenilee facilitates this training, where you will learn to:

• Notice and respond to situations where suicide thoughts may be present, 
• Recognize that invitations for help are often overlooked, 
• Move beyond the common tendency to miss, dismiss, and avoid suicide, 
• Apply the TALK steps: Tell, Ask, Listen, KeepSafe, and 
• Know community resources and how to connect someone with thoughts of suicide to them for further suicide-safer help.

 A 2 day training for Every One, ages 16 and up 

Jenilee (and typically Janeen) facilitate this training, where you will learn to:

• Understand the ways personal and societal attitudes affect views on suicide and interventions
• Provide guidance and suicide first-aid to a person at risk  
• Identify the key elements of an effective suicide safety plan and actions required to implement
• Appreciate the value of improving and integrating suicide prevention resources in the community at large 
• Recognize other important aspects of suicide prevention including life-promotion and self-care

Tragic Events are situations that occur outside of our normal frame of reference that challenge us to understand and cope with what has happened. 

Tragic Event Debriefing is a group intervention process, facilitated by Jenilee and a co-facilitator, that focuses on a single event. The group debriefing process provides a place for people to talk and share experiences, and for the facilitator to teach and provide information about the impact of tragic events.
