TREATMENT SERVICES:
• Counselling and Psychotherapy
I treasure and value the opportunity to work with people and approach all individuals I support from a place of openness, empathy, and curiosity. Each of us is unique, have had positive and negative life experiences that have contributed to who we are, and have the ability to heal from what is keeping us from being healthy, happy and at peace.
My goal as a therapist is to create a safe, supportive and non-judgmental space as we build our relationship together to allow for exploration of your thoughts, feelings and lived experiences as you work towards healing and growth.
With over sixteen years of experience working in mental health and addictions, I can assist you with variety of areas of concern including low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, suicidal ideation, and trauma.
Types of therapy: To assist you with these issues and develop goals to work on, I incorporate an eclectic approach of modalities including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Narrative, Solution Focused Therapy, and Strength Based, and became fully certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) in April 2022.
Education and Credentials: I graduated with a Masters of Social Work degree from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2005 and I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), a regulatory body administered by the provincial government to regulate the practice of social work in Ontario. I am also registered with the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW).
In our work together, I want to acknowledge the courage and strength it took for you to reach out for support. In our work together, we can build on the knowledge and skills you possess to help create acceptance in your life for the things you cannot change and work towards changing the things you do have control over in an effort to build the life you want for yourself.
All of our programs are self-referral, fee for service programs, often covered by health benefit providers. We are currently offering most services via video.
